Some people prefer to have a concrete floor in their homes or sometimes they haven’t had the opportunity to choose the mosaic that needs to be implemented, so it is important to know that this type of floor is more prone to suffer from stronger humidity conditions.
The problems range from the generation of fungi that are harmful to our family’s respiratory system or to structural problems that could seriously affect our floor. It is easier for bacteria to grow when they lodge in crevices in humid conditions.
The ideal solution: paint
Waterproofing paints protect and decorate facades and roofs or interior walls and ceilings from moisture, seepage and water leaks. The material of the damaged surface determines the specific model of the ideal product for waterproofing.
Depending on the damage you have, you should choose one solution or another, hence the types of interior waterproofing are classified into:
- Anti-humidity: White paint, can be applied even on wet walls.
- Anti-mold: Matte paint to prevent mold from appearing. It is especially recommended for places with little, no or bad ventilation, heating or faulty thermal insulation.
- Anti-stain: Paint that is used to erase any type of stain, whether due to humidity or other causes …
Epoxy floor paint
Epoxy or Polyurethane floor paints are the best option for you, they are also elastic and withstand small cracks that appear in pavements, after being applied, without breaking.
Adverse weather conditions (UV rays, rain, cold, hail …) do not deteriorate this type of floor paints as they are manufactured with the harshest conditions and their application in outdoor floors in mind.
Although epoxy paint is very versatile, you could also use other options such as resin flooring or garage floor painting kits. Click here!
Epoxy coating is technically not a paint. Epoxy paint contains, on the one hand, acrylic paint, which allows color customizations, and on the other hand, epoxy resin, which gives the mixture resistance, brightness and main characteristics.
It is often used on industrial floors, garages and workshops although it is increasingly common to see it applied to homes.
Do it yourself
Epoxy coating uses a mixture of two separate components to coat your floor.
Kits that you buy at your hardware or DIY stores will allow you to mix one part of epoxy resin with a polyamide catalyst.
Unlike epoxy paint, this mixture will cure rather than dry. A concrete floor will benefit from this hard cure because the process fills in the porous concrete.
The resin adds shine to the pavement and an epoxy coat protects it from stains, spills and scratches.
These paints sometimes include colored aggregate fragments that can be spread over wet paint and add color and depth to the finished surface.
DIY stores typically offer concrete pavement painting kits, which usually have enough paint to cover an area of 15-20 square meters.
After mixing the paint by adding the catalyst, in the same way that resin is used, all the paint must be used, because after it hardens, it cannot be spread.
Let it dry for 24 hours before walking on it, and three days before riding on it. For more information visit: http://www.suzuki-autoparts.com/reasons-why-to-paint-your-garage-floor/
